Changing how young people view images and photography
Schools weeks is one of the highlights of the Visa pour l'Image festival. During the third and fourth weeks of the festival, the exhibitions remain open especially for school groups. This event provides an opportunity for students, pupils and teaching staff to reflect on how they view images and photography.
During the first week, visitors are able to meet photographers. During both weeks they can visit the exhibitions with or without a guide and they can take part in image literacy workshops.
Around twenty exhibitions, designed to raise awareness among young people about certain realities of our society and among older people about the state of the world, are available to teachers.
The pupils analyze the photographs and develop their critical thinking skills.
In addition to being able to visit the exhibitions in the best possible conditions, pupils can also meet professional photographers and discuss photojournalism as a profession.

CLEMI operates under the French Ministry of Education. Created in 1983, its mission is “to promote different ways of using news media resources in education, in order to help pupils understand the world around them, and develop their critical thinking skills” (Decree of April 1993).
As such, CLEMI organizes programs, activities, exchanges, and educational publications for teachers. The goal is to help them understand the news media system, analyze its messages, and use these for educational purposes in the classroom. Each year, CLEMI trains between 15,000 and 18,000 teachers, either through internships for future teachers or through continuing education.
CLEMI has produced a manual for teachers on how to analyze images.
